When I first started playing with the idea of Vaugnity in April 2021, I never imagined the journey toward official recognition would be so long and intense. What began as a dream to structurally contribute to a better world has grown into a fully recognized public benefit foundation. Today, I look back on that journey – a process that took more than four years and taught me patience, perseverance, and trust.
From idea to preparation
The first sketches and conversations about Vaugnity date back to April 12, 2021. The idea matured quietly, but in January 2024 we took the first concrete steps toward preparation. From that point on, the paperwork really began.
Navigating the Belgian maze
Whoever has ever founded an organization knows it’s no simple road. In October 2024 we had the first contact with the notary, and in April 2025 the deed was officially signed. While this was an important milestone, the organization was still far from complete. The administrative machine moved slowly, and much time was consumed by formalities and registrations.
Royal approval
A truly special moment came on May 17, 2025, when the founding received the official approval of King Philippe. It’s not every day you hold a document carrying the King’s signature. It gave the whole process a certain weight and symbolism.
The final steps
After that came the registration at the Office of Legal Certainty on April 8, 2025, the entry into the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises on August 15, 2025, and finally the publication in the Belgian Official Gazette on August 22, 2025. Only on August 28, 2025 could I breathe a sigh of relief: Vaugnity was officially and fully founded.
A personal journey
As a founder, this trajectory was at times frustrating due to the slowness of the system. Yet I look back with gratitude. Each obstacle reminded me why we are doing this: because the mission is bigger than the paperwork. Vaugnity is more than a legal structure – it is a promise to use resources sustainably to fight injustice and poverty, and to bring hope and opportunity.
