Six weeks. That’s how long it should take, on paper, for Vaugnity’s founding deed to be published in the Belgian Official Gazette. That deadline has now passed — with no publication in sight. It’s summer, public services are slower, and no one can tell us exactly how much longer it will take.
So we wait.
But what if waiting isn’t wasted time?
An encouraging example: the Wellcome Trust
A few days ago, I came across a newsletter from Philea — the European philanthropy network. It mentioned the Wellcome Trust, and something about their story hit home. Not just what they do, but how they do it.
Founded in 1936, Wellcome now manages a staggering £37.6 billion — around €44 billion. Their model? Passive income through strategic investments, which they use to support initiatives that improve global health and well-being.
Why does this resonate so deeply? Because it’s precisely the model we envision for Vaugnity: creating long-term, sustainable impact through financial wisdom and generosity_index.
If they could build that in 88 years, we can afford a few extra weeks to get properly started.
Slowing down doesn’t mean standing still
Waiting often feels like standing still. Like nothing is happening. But in truth, something else is growing underneath: trust. Trust in the process, in the timing, in the foundation we’re laying. Because a solid foundation takes time.
Behind the scenes, we keep building — refining structures, connecting with partners, shaping the vision. Vaugnity is alive, even if not yet official.
What I see in the nonprofit world
As founder of Enter Digital, I meet nonprofit organizations almost every week. And again and again, I see how much energy is lost to messy structures and poor systems. Chaos isn’t just inconvenient — it’s expensive.
Structure isn’t a luxury. It’s a multiplier. In a previous post, I wrote about how essential it is to start with the right systems from day one — before the real work begins.
That’s exactly what we’re doing with Vaugnity. We don’t want to bolt on a system later — we want to build it in from the beginning. That’s why I’m documenting every step of our thinking, research, and decisions. Soon, I’ll share that journey here — hoping it might help others build better foundations, too.
Looking ahead together
Yes, we’re waiting. But not passively. We’re waiting with hope, with purpose, and with the quiet belief that big things grow slow.
Thanks for staying tuned. The next update? That will come as soon as we get that official green light. Until then: stay hopeful. And keep building.
